Discover Our Story > The Beans We pride ourselves on sourcing the world's most exceptional and finest cacao beans. Our selection features the rare and highly priced pure Criollo cacao from Peru, known for its complex flavour profile, low bitterness and rich heritage. Additionally, we offer the Arriba Nacional cacao from Ecuador, which is also a Criollo variety celebrated for its floral aroma, balanced sweetness, and smooth texture. Historically, Criollo was the cacao of the Mayans and Aztecs, who revered it as sacred. Today, pure Criollo makes up a tiny fraction of global cacao production, making pure chocolate bars made from it a luxury item. Our cacao grown sustainably among trees and shrubs using the agroforestry management system, which has a significantly lower environmental impact than the fertiliser heavy plantations common in West Africa. We also ensure that our cacao comes from ethical farms that are free from slavery, reflecting our commitment to responsible sourcing. Palm Oil-Free: We do not use palm oil in our chocolate due to its negative environmental and social impacts. This choice aligns with our values and demonstrates our dedication to ethical ingredient sourcing. Eco-Friendly Ingredients Green Production Green Energy: Our factory runs on 100% green energy, minimizing our carbon footprint during production. Waste Reduction: We prioritise waste reduction by using sustainable materials during production and minimizing unnecessary waste. Towards a Zero Waste Future At Choco Doodle Doo, we aim to become a Zero Waste business and reduce our carbon emissions to Zero. We believe in taking responsibility for our environmental impact and ensuring that future generations can enjoy a healthier planet. Plastic-Free Packaging & Delivery Packaging We carefully choose plastic-free packaging made from renewable resources that can be composted or recycled: Chocolate Bars: Our 100% recycled and recyclable Kraft paper packaging comes from sustainably managed forests (FSC certified). The inner waxed paper is 100% home compostable and biodegradable, and our clear labels are made from biodegradable cellulose. Nut Butters & Spreads: Our lids, jars, and paper labels are all 100% recyclable. Postal Packaging: We use 100% recyclable and biodegradable boxes made from at least 70% recycled content (FSC Certified). Our natural wood wool filling is compostable and biodegradable, and our tape is made from recyclable Kraft paper with a natural rubber-based adhesive. Transportation Our electric vehicle helps us reduce transportation emissions, and our partnership with Royal Mail and EVRI further lessens our carbon footprint.
